The Responsive AI prioritizes readability and narrative flow over preserving the original formatting of Content Library content when you are asking a question or responding in a project. This ensures that generated responses are consistent, easy to understand, and appropriately structured for the context in which they are used.
The AI does not automatically inherit formatting or styling (such as bold, italics, or structure) from Content Library entries.
The AI determines formatting dynamically based on:
Clarity
Length of response
Context of the question
If content is marked as verbatim, the AI preserves it exactly as written, including formatting.
To improve usability and readability, the AI may:
Break long responses into sections with headings and subheadings
Use bullet points for clarity in complex answers
Keep short responses concise and minimally formatted
While the AI does not automatically preserve Content Library formatting, you can influence how responses are structured by providing explicit instructions.
You can set organization-level instructions:
Navigate to Organization Settings.
Expand the Responsive AI menu.
Open Preferences.
Enter formatting guidance in the AI instructions field (for example, “Use bullet points for lists and italicize author names”).
Save your changes.
These instructions apply across all AI-generated responses in your organization. However, if you are using AI Draft and provide instructions for it, the AI Draft instructions will override the ones set in Organization Settings (although the AI may make mistakes).
You can set section-level instructions in AI Draft:
Open a project and navigate to the desired section or sections.
Launch AI Draft.
In the AI Instructions field, enter specific formatting instructions (for example, “Format the response with headings and bullet points”).
When you have finished, click Generate Answers.
The instructions you provide here will override the ones in Organization Settings, although the AI can make mistakes.
Use clear, explicit instructions (for example, “Use bullet points” instead of “format nicely”).
You may want to use AI Draft on fewer sections at the same time so you can provide different instructions for each of them.
Test and refine instructions to achieve consistent output.
The AI cannot currently be instructed to retain Content Library formatting automatically.
Conflicting instructions may produce inconsistent results because:
Large Language Models (LLMs) interpret multiple inputs probabilistically
Instruction priority (section vs. organization) is not always guaranteed
