Using multi-column dropdowns as answer types in Excel

Updated 15 days ago

Overview

When a questionnaire asks that you select one answer from a row across multiple columns, use a multi-column dropdown as the answer type. Users can choose the multi-column dropdown answer type while configuring the Excel file.

Use case: Question 1 has four possible responses in columns B, C, D, and E and you are being asked to provide your response in one of the columns to fulfill the question requirements.

Using multi-column dropdowns as answer types in Excel

  1. Select the Answer column and map it with Answer from the right menu options.

  2. When the Answer Configuration pop-up displays, change the Answer Header to Response and select Dropdown for the Answer Type.

  3. Add the required answer options.

  4. Click Add Answer Option to add more values if needed, then click Save.

  5. Click Import to import the file.

  6. On the Answering page, choose a value from the Select the Value dropdown.

  7. On the Answering Page, answer the questions and export the responses in the source.
Note: Upon export the responses can be found in the exact column. If your dropdown options split after import it may be related to how your options are mapped during import. Verify the dropdown configuration by reviewing the screenshot of the expected mapping to ensure each row number is grouped under the dropdown column (not split) and edit if needed. If the behavior persists, contact our Support team to review the import configuration in real time.
