When to Use Multi-Column Drop-Downs as Answer Types in Excel

Overview

When a questionnaire asks that you select one answer from a row across multiple columns, use a multi-column drop-down as the answer type. Users can choose the multi-column drop-down answer type while configuring the Excel file.

Question 1 has four possible responses in columns B, C, D, and E and you are being asked to provide your response in one of the columns to fulfill the question requirements.

Select the applicable tab for your edition of Responsive.

  • Using Multi-Column Drop-Downs as Answer Types in Excel

    1. Select the Answer column and map it with ANSWER from the right menu options.
    2. The Answer Configuration pop-up appears. Change the Answer Header to Response.
    3. Select Multi-Column Dropdown as Answer Type.
    4. Add the required answer options. You can add multiple options by selecting Add Answer Options and click Save.
    5. Click Save and then Import.
    6. After import, you can answer the question by selecting an option from the drop-down in the Response section as shown below and then export the responses.


      The exported file displays as shown below:

    1. Select the Answer column and map it with ANSWER from the right menu options.
    2. The Answer Configuration pop-up appears. Change the Answer Header to Response.
    3. Select Multi-Column Dropdown as Answer Type.
    4. Add the required answer options. You can add multiple options by selecting Add Answer Options and click Save.
    5. Click Save and then Import.
    6. After import, you can answer the question by selecting an option from the drop-down in the Response section as shown below and then export the responses.
