Overview
If you have a parent question with sub-questions, and the parent question does not require a response, you can map the file so only the sub-questions get answer fields when the file is imported.
Select the applicable tab for your edition of Responsive.
-
Removing Parent Question Response Fields
-
Map your file as usual, marking the questions and sub-questions.
-
Click the Preview icon next to the Table of Contents.
-
Select Skip answers for parent questions.
-
Change the order of the questions (optional). Hover over a question
to display its handle, and then drag and drop it to the new location.
- Click Save.
-
Click Import to import the file.
-
The parent questions will not have a response field but the
sub-questions will.
-
Once the section is marked as reviewed/completed, the Q&A
pair will go into the Answer Library (if enabled) and the
Parent Question text will display in front of the Sub Question,
separated by a colon.
-
Parent questions are displayed in front of the Sub-Questions
in the Q&A pair to provide context. If the parent question
has its own response field, the link between the Parent Question
and Sub-Question via colon will still exist.
Note: The parent question will automatically be marked as completed once all its sub-questions are marked as complete.
