How Responsive Handles Email Notification Hard Bounces

Overview

A hard bounce is an email that permanently bounced back to the sender because the address is invalid. A hard bounce usually occurs because:

  • Recipient’s email address is missing or invalid
  • Non-existence of the recipient’s domain
  • Error in typing the recipient’s email address
  • Blocking of the email by the recipient’s email server
  • Network Issue at the recipient’s end

  • Scenario

Gus Wellman (Gus@responsive.io) is the project primary contact, but Gus is no longer associated with the company or his email address has been changed (Gus.Wellman@responsive.io, for example). One of the project team members is @mentioning Gus Wellman for a clarification and the email notification is bounced back because of invalid email ID.

How Responsive handles the above scenario:

    • Notifications will be sent to the super-admin automatically
    • Email preferences of the recipient with invalid email address will be turned off
    • If the email cannot be delivered to a super-admin, Responsive support user will be notified
  • Essentials features are subscription-based and may not be available for all users. Contact your account manager, or accountmanagers@responsive.io, for more details.
