Overview
You can manually edit the answer type for an individual question, or a group of questions.
Select the applicable tab for your edition of Responsive.

Individually editing answer types
- Click the More Options menu next to the question you want to edit and select Edit Question.
- Do one of the following:
- Click Add Answer Type to add more answer types.
- Select an option from the Answer Type drop-down menu to change your answer type.
- Click the Delete icon to delete an answer type.
- Click Save.
Bulk editing answer types
- Click the checkboxes in front of the questions you want to edit (or click Select All); then, click More at the top of the screen and select Edit Answer Type.
- Do one of the following:
- Click Add Answer Type to add more answer types.
- Select an option from the Answer Type drop-down menu to change your answer type.
- Click the Delete icon to delete an answer type.
- Click Save.
Specifying character and word limits for answers
You can limit the number of characters or words an answer can have if the answer type is Basic Rich Text.
To specify limits when importing a file, perform the following steps:
- Map the cell or column of the Word table or Excel file as an answer. Make sure the Answer Type is Basic Rich Text, and then click Options.
- Click the Limit Entry checkbox to display the options. Select Character Limit or Word Limit, and then specify the number of characters or words the answer can contain. Click Save.
If you have imported the files into a project, you can add limits to a single question by performing the following steps:
- Select the menu icon for the question, and then click Edit Question.
- Make sure the Answer Type is Basic Rich Text, and click the Edit icon. You will not see the icon if the answer type is something else.
- Click Limit Entry to display the options. Specify the limit information and click OK.
- On the Edit Question screen, click Save.
You can set the limits for multiple answers in a project by performing the following steps:
- Select the checkboxes for the questions you want to change, or select the header checkbox to select all the questions in the section. Click More, and then select Edit Answer Type.
- Make sure the Answer Type is Basic Rich Text, then click the Edit icon.
- Click Limit Entry to display the options. Specify the limit information and click OK.
- On the Edit Question screen, click Save.
