Overview
This article explains how to create proposals in Salesforce that will then appear in Responsive.
Select the applicable tab for your edition of Responsive.

Creating catalog structures
A catalog structure is a template that allows you to organize the content for your products and services.
- To to Organization Settings > Content Library > Catalog Structure and click Create New.
- Provide a name and description for the structure. Enter the name of a previously created merge tag. The Display Name and Type will automatically be populated. Click Add new element to add more tags to the structure.
- Click Save.
Managing catalogs
Create and manage your products and services in the Content Library.
- Navigate to the Content Library by selecting the app launcher, and then clicking Content Library.
- Click the New button to display the menu, and then click Catalog.
- Choose a catalog structure and provide details for your catalog.
Using Catalog Merge Tags Within Section Templates
Catalog merge tags will be automatically replaced with the content of catalogs that are chosen during proposal creation in Salesforce.
Use the catalog merge tag in the section description as below:
- [catalog#<catalog_tag_name>] or
- [catalog#<catalog_tag_name>#noname] (to exclude header name)
Creating proposal groups
Proposal groups are logical groups of catalogs, section templates, and response templates.
- Go to Organization Settings > Proposal Builder > Proposal Groups and click Create New.
- Provide a name for the proposal group.
- Add catalogs, section templates, and response templates to the group.
Note: If you want these items to be selected in advance for the group during proposal generation, click Preselect. - Click Save.
Generating proposals in Salesforce
Generating unsolicited proposals
- In Salesforce, click Create proposal under Opportunities page.
- In Responsive, go to Organization Settings > Proposal > Preferences and provide the proposal details.
- Choose a Proposal Template from the drop-down list. The catalogs, sections templates, and response templates belonging to the proposal group will be listed with pre-selections if made during proposal group creation.
Note: If no selection is made, choose the required catalogs, section templates, and response template for your proposal. You can search the catalogs, section template and response template. - If applicable, add attachments to your proposal.
- Click Generate Proposal.
- Once prompted with the preview of the proposal, click Generate. The user creating the proposal is sent a mail notification with an option to directly view the package, which displays in Responsive under Export Responses.
Note: The package is published to Salesforce if Publish Export Response Package to Salesforce has been selected from the Salesforce configuration page in Responsive. You can also select the Auto-Publish Proposal to Salesforce option in Responsive to publish the new proposal to Salesforce page.
- It may take a few seconds for the package to be generated. Do a page refresh to view the proposal.
- The proposal will be available in .zip format in the Opportunities page of Salesforce.
- A project with the proposal details is created in Responsive and is available under the project's Export Responses page.
Generating Proposals with RFx
- In Salesforce, click Create proposal option under Opportunities page.
- In Responsive, go to Organization Settings > Proposal > Preferences and provide the proposal details.
- Choose a Proposal Template from the drop-down list. The catalogs, sections templates, and response templates belonging to the proposal group will be listed with pre-selections if made during proposal group creation.
Note: If no selection is made, choose the required catalogs, section templates, and response template for your proposal. - Upload your RFx under Attach RFx Questionnaire.
- (Optional) Add attachments to your proposal from the Attach Supporting Documents section.
- (Optional) Click Advanced Options to clone sections from the existing projects into your proposal. These sections will be displayed in the Table of Contents.
- Click Create Project. The Project primary contact and additional primary contact provided in the proposal details form will be sent a mail notification with an option to directly view the package in Responsive under Export Responses.
- Click Open Project on the prompt to view the project in Responsive.
Note: You can manage your RFx and generate proposal from Export Responses.
- To to Organization Settings > Content Library > Catalog Structure and click Create New.
