Overview
Reassigning individual questions to authors allows reviewers to send individual questions back to authors for corrections and revisions, without having to reassign the entire section. Other questions in the section remain untouched.
This improvement reduces confusion, unnecessary workload redistribution, and improves review efficiency by providing precise and actionable feedback.
- Once the section moves to Completed status, You can't reassign sections that are marked as Complete.
- Sections with reassigned questions can't be marked as Complete Review until resolved.
Reassigning individual questions to authors
- Open a section that is pending review, then identify the question that needs to be reassigned.
- Click the question’s three-dot menu and select Reassign to Author.
- Enter the reason for reassignment in the pop-up.
Note: The reason will also be saved as a comment on the question. - (Optional) Click the Queue & Notify Later toggle to queue the notification.
Note: The toggle is disabled by default, so the notification is sent to the author immediately if you don't turn it on. - Click Reassign.
- The question’s status changes from Ready for Review to Reassigned. Hover over the Info icon to view the reason for reassignment.
- The Answered toggle will be turned off, indicating that the question is not answered.
- The section status remains unchanged. Reassigning individual questions does not impact the section status unless all questions are reassigned.
Viewing reassigned questions
- Click the Search filter.
- Scroll down to the Question section and check the Reassigned to Author checkbox.
Note: If you don't see the Question section, click + Add Filter and add it. - Click Apply to view the list of questions that are reassigned to the author.
Working with reassigned notifications
Note: Notifications are sent to assigned author(s), or the Project Primary Contact (PPC) if no author is assigned. New authors added after reassignment won't receive the original reassignment email.
- Click the Pending Notification Queue icon, then click the Reassigned tab to view the list of reassigned notifications.
- Select the user(s), then click Send Notification.
